Red Meat

I really don't eat meat that much, maybe 4 times a week -- and red meat even less. But, oh, how I love a good steak. I marinated this lovely one overnight in a balsamic, roasted garlic and habanero (with a touch of molasses) blend I made. I flipped it ever few hours (it's amazing the good that insomnia can do for a person). I grilled it on the gift my parents gave me for graduating grad school -- my George Foreman Grill. Oh, it was lovely. I had it on a nice salad of romaine, radishes, and carmelized onions. I am full, and there must be at least 3 or 4 servings (well, small servings -- I tend to not eat much at once) left. Tomorrow, leftover couscous and chickpeas with some cold steak. mmm. Anyway, I'm at the Wheeler library tonight.
I should be packing for moving (the move thing starts tomorrow) or at least correcting papers. I am doing neither. I'll be up tomorrow morning anyway, I might as well save the projects until then, when I'm more efficient. I will probably go home, turn on the Led Zeppelin, and crochet. I found an unfinished (only 1/3 finished) afghan while I was packing. I started it last summer, and of course had no time to finish it this year. I am almost done with a big square (they are 2'x2' -- it will be about 6.25'x4.25', including trim, when done). It is varegated pink, and I love it. It looks a little too betterhomesandgardens COUNTRYCHIC or some such potpurri-satchet rifraff, but I don't mind. The bits of cream in the yarn will match gloriously with the boring cream walls and carpet of the new apartment, and not look dingy so fast as real white would. Plus, it'll be comfy and impressive for guests who are less "domesticated" as I've been told I am (by someone I don't like, but still, it's an interesting term -- I am still wild where it counts, of course).

Cheers.
